Mechanical features
327 and 283 v8 engines. 195-hp Turbo-five 283 is standard v8; extra-cost 275-hpTurbo-Five 327 V8 may be ordered (see chart at right for space). 275-hp Turbo-Five 327 v8: 1,94"-dia inlet valves, 1.50"-dia, exhaust valves, Valve lift: 3900 inlet, 4100" exhaust. Inlet valves open 36" BTC, close 54" ATC, Duration: 310" inlet, 320" exhaust. Both enginee have high-strength, precisioncast alloy iron cylinder block and heads; large intake and exhaust passages. Othr engines available for Nova SS: 120-hp HI-Thrift 194 Six standard; 155-hp Turbo-Thrift 250 Six may be ordered (see chart at right for specifications)

Transmissions

3-Speed fully synchronized. Standard with all engines. Gear ratios: with 327 V8, 2.54:1 first, 1.50:1 second, 1,00:1 third, 2.63:1 reverse, With 283 V8 and Sixes, 2.85:1 first, 1.68:1 second, 1.00:1 third, 2.95:1 reverse. Fully synehronized in all three forward gears. Column shift lever.

4-Speed fully synchronized. Extra cost with either V8. Gear ratios: with 327 V8, 2.54.1 first, 1.80:1 second, 1.44:1 third, 1.00:1 fourth, 2.54:1 reverse, With 283 V8, 3.11:1 first, 2.20:1 second, 1.47:1 third,  1.00:1 fourth, 3.11:1 reverse. Floormounted shift lever on console plate.

Powerglide automatic. Extra cost. Two-speed automatic transmission. Ratios: V8-3.70:1 to 1.76:1 range: 283 V8-3.82:1 to 1.82:1 rande: 194 Six-4.37:1 to 1.82:1 range: 250 Six-3.82:1 to 1.82:1 range. Shift lever mounted on floor console plate.

Exterior. Bright front and rear wheel opening moldings. Special Black-accented grille. Lower body side moldings above black-painted sill area. Color-keyed body side accent stripes. Single-unit taillights with built-in back-up lights. 
Super Sport wheel covers. Distinctive SS series identification.

Interior. Strato-bucket front seats. Luxurious color-keyed all-vinyl upholstery. Color-keyed deep-twist carpeting. Electric clock. Instrument panel series identification. Automatic front door dome light switches. 3-spoke oval steering wheel. Chrome-backed day-night rearview mirror. Luggage compartment mat. Floor-mounted shift and special console plate with 4-speed or powerglide transmission
